Summer Trees
I look outside my window and
the peaceful green of Summer trees swaying gently
co-exists with the solid white of man-made buildings …
The trees have given much to make space for these strange structures
Sacrificed their family and friends
And yet it is their roots
which run deep into the embrace of Mother Earth
and bring her milk up to where we can drink it.
When I walk amidst these majestic trees
I feel no anger from them, no blame
Only a deep allowing
A welcoming even,
and always the invitation
to connect with the roots of my own being.
